Woohoo Monday!!!

Woohoo Monday!!! That is definitely not the most common word used to describe Monday but today it is the way I feel! The last few days have been filled with cleaning and laundry and packing. One day I WILL learn how to NOT over pack.

It’s almost time to leave for out Thanksgiving trip. In just a few short hours we will be loaded up and on our way to our first stop, Santa Claus IN. I’m so excited I barely slept last night. It could have been a mixture of excitement to leave and the remnants of excitement from the movie I watched before bed. Yes, I will admit it. I’m a Twilight fan! I by far like the books over the movies (I usually like the book better then the movie) but the last movie was by far the best. Back to my trip, I can’t wait to see my family! Typically we only get to visit twice a year. I believe this will be our third this year. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite trips though. We hang out, we cook, we shop and we craft. There will be pies and turkey and ham and tons of other awesomely homemade treats. We will scrap and make bows and hopefully my Nanny can fix my sewing machine. The kids and dogs will play and it’ll be great!

But before we get all the way to Nanny’s house, we will make a stop in Indiana. We have been stopping in Santa Claus on our way home for the past 4yrs. It’s became part of out Thanksgiving tradition. This year we are stopping on our way to Thanksgiving Dinner. We visit the Santa’s Candy Castle, where we get a hot chocolate (27 flavors), maybe a piece of handmade candy, a new Christmas book, and check the naughty/nice list. Checking the list has become one of my favorite parts. Kids are able to chat with an Elf via the North Pole Network. They answer a few questions about the past year, tell Santa what they’d like and then they are presented with a certificate for being on the nice list. The owner prints this certificate and in front of the store presents it to the child and everyone claps and cheers. The owner is super nice and great with kids. They also allow the kids to make snow. Other stops we make include the Santa Claus Museum and Village, Santa Claus Christmas Store and Evergreen Flower & The Holly Tree Gift Shop.

I could go on and on but I’ll save some for another post.

For now I’m going to double check my list and hope I have all I need. Have a great day and I’ll have Santa Claus IN pics tomorrow.

It’s Saturday!!!

Busy, busy, busy!!! But so excited! Almost Thanksgiving and I can’t wait!

Finished up leg warmers for a friend, added a date personalization to an ornament, and got my sisters “order” for personalized gifts for Christmas presents she would like me to make. And the best news…. I got my first Etsy sale! So excited. I’m glad some one else liked my little peacock as much as I did!

Today is out towns Christmas parade. It’s gonna be fun. I love Christmas time and even though its super early. I found Hot Chocolate Cupcakes at Walmart and Starbucks Salt Caramel Hot Chocolate. I thought they sounded like yummy before/after parade snacks.

And then may a trip thru the Festival of Lights!

More laundry and packing for trip today. Hope y’all have a great Saturday Night!

Yesterday’s Come and Gone

I was hoping to get a chance to write this last night but I was one sleepy girl.
So, Tuesday night I made Rustic Italian Chicken and I give it a thumbs up. I think after I add more veggies I’ll give it 2 thumbs up. I was thinking squash, zucchini, and some onion would be a nice addition.

Yesterday was another busy day. I realized yesterday that I only have 4 days (now 3) until we leave for Thanksgiving vacation. That means this weekend I’m gonna be a cleaning machine! I like coming home to a clean house after being away. Plus we always have tons of stuff we bring home. Between Black Friday shopping and Christmas gifts for the kid (easier then family shipping them) that the back is completely full and then the entry is completely full when we arrive home. Clean house means I have an idea where to place all the things we return with.
I still haven’t really had a chance to do too much crafting. I’ve just been finishing up a few leg warmers for a few friends. I’m sure that next week I’ll have nothing but craft projects to post. My Aunt and Nanny have already told me about a few things that are on our list.

This Book Fair at school as been so much fun. Today we also have a family style Thanksgiving dinner for the kids. This is the first year my son and I get to be a part of these activities and I’m really excited. I’m so thankful that I have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and volunteer at kid’s school.
Hope y’all have a great day!

What A Day

What a day! Book Fair all week at school and I was there all day!

No time for crafting today. I volunteered at the school Book Fair this morning and ended up staying all day. It was a little hectic but a lot of fun helping the kids. Pre K and Kindergarten weren’t too hard. We were able to help them write down title and prices but those 1st and 2nd graders are definitely more independent. All were a little loud and rowdy, but who wouldn’t be getting to try and narrow down 100 books to just 5! Seeing their selections and hearing why they like the books was wonderful.
I was ready to come home at the end of the day. I was a little tired. I feel like I had 1000 conversations today and was pulled in 1001 directions but it was worth it to see the happy little faces!

And to top off my day, I came home to a wonderful smelling home. I love my crock pot! I knew I would not be in the mood to cook tonight so I threw some ingredients into it and now all I have to do is cook some pasta and dinner is ready. Recipe for the night is Slow Cooker Rustic Italian Chicken
When I opened an email from Pillsbury yesterday and saw the picture I knew I had to try this recipe. I’ll let y’all know what it’s like tomorrow. Now I think I’ll try to finish some projects before supper time. Hope y’all have a great night

Just Another Monday

Oh Monday you’re back once again bringing an end to the weekend.

I actually have nothing to complain about this Monday. Kids are off school today so no early morning fighting to get kid up and ready. No rushing to make sure that we have all school stuff together. It’s been a pretty nice day. Kid slept in a bit and I had a little quiet time this morning. Started on snowmen for my sister

Worked on more leg warmers

We got to have lunch with the hubby at Perkins. Not my fave but not too many choices close to home. Then a little shopping (didn’t find what I wanted) and off to the movies. Yes, we are seeing Wreck-It Ralph again. It’s really cute so I don’t mind. We’ll probably purchase the DVD too. But with no school comes friend time! Yay! We get to hang out with our friends today. M and I loaded up the kids and after the movie we will be enjoying Steak Night. A local restaurant offers $7.99 steak night with baked potato and their awesome cheesy bread and salad. I could eat the salad and bread every day and still want more. It’s one of my favorite local places.

This weeks gonna be busy. I have PTC stuff all week plus getting house and laundry ready for out Thanksgiving trip next week. So a few hours a day at school working the book fair each day, all day Thursday for book fair and the family style Thanksgiving dinner PTC gives the kids. Hope to also finish up a few projects for a few people and gifts for others.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Sunny Sunday

Today was BEAUTIFUL! Sunny, warm perfect spring day. Oh wait, sorry it’s mid November. Where’s the nice brisk cold, maybe a few flurries? Dont get me wrong I loved that it was so pretty but I would prefer a nice sunny day and a little chill in the air.

The nice day did aid in helping get the house Christmas ready. Icicle lights are now on the roof, net lighting stapled to the fence and a few net lights are zip tied around the trees. The rest I can do by myself after we return home after Thanksgiving. I can’t wait. I love Christmas trees and lights! I could keep my house decorated year round. I do in fact have a tree in my entry that stays up all year (I decorates it thru out year). At this moment 11-11-12, I have 4 trees up and decorated. 2-3 more will be up and ready over the next week. I know I’m crazy, it’s ridiculous etc…etc. my friends remind me constantly.

Any who, after getting some of the house prep finished I worked on some projects. Today’s were leg warmers and matching bows. 20121111-203757.jpg

Hope y’all had a great weekend! Happy Veterans Day! Thanks all that served!

Too Early on a Saturday

Oh my I am awake way too early on this cold Saturday. I guess that means this wont be my only cup of coffee today

20121110-061913.jpg I am excited about today. Christmas in the Village, dinner at a friends and maybe getting lights on the house (we are having nice weather). So much fun stuff and it puts me one day closer to our Thanksgiving trip! I can’t wait! I’m so excited to see my Nanny, aunt, cousins, dad, and maybe my sister and niece.

My husband and I started going there about 8 yrs ago and now with our little one its even more special that he get the chance to visit. Our whole tradition includes trip there, Thanksgiving dinner, girls Black Friday shopping and stop in Santa Claus IN on way home. This year I’m a little upset about the shopping.

When I went Black Friday shopping for the first time 6yrs ago the stores started sales at 5 am Friday and now those same stores are starting at 8pm Thanksgiving Day!!! It’s called Black Friday! Not let’s make everyone even more completely crazy day. My family live in the boonies, we have to drive 1 1/2hrs for the pleasure of a Walmart, Target, Kohl’s and a mall. I’ve never had an item I had to have but I enjoy watching the fanatic shoppers and torturing my family members by making them wake at ridiculous hours and shop for 13 hrs straight. The last few years that’s changed. It’s not really torturous to tell my aunt it’s time to go when it’s only 8pm (last year) and now this year they want us to leave at 6pm (thank goodness I’m usually stuffed by then and need a distraction from that 5th dessert) to be there by 8pm sales?!?! RIDICULOUS!!!!

I only see that part of my family maybe twice a year. And while I love the shopping, it’s usually while the sane ones are sleeping. This whole experience has become a bonding time for us girls. It gives us time to just be with each other, no kids, no distractions. Just us, a car and the radio for 1 1/2hrs. So the big question is when are we shopping? I guess it’ll just depend on how crazy my aunt and I really are….

And so now that I’ve got that off my chest. I can focus on yesterday and why I didn’t get to post. So maybe I’ll do 2 today to get back on track. Yesterday kind of got away from me. I worked on some bows and leg warmers, had lunch and then it was off to the kid’s school for pick and set up for PTC’s Ladies Night. Then after helping there for a few and running to store for a few supplies, I had enough time to eat dinner, get ready and head back to Ladies Night to shop and take my turn working. It was a GREAT night! We had fun, the vendors had fun and we raised a nice amount of money for the kids.

Here are a few of my latest items. Bows for a friend, leg warmers, and I added to my snowman by giving him a family

Almost Weekend

It’s one day closer to the weekend and I couldn’t be more excited!!! I love this time of year. Christmas may be my favorite holiday and Thanksgiving is a close 2nd. This weekend is packed full of Christmas fun for me. I know it’s a bit early but I’m super excited. Our Festival of Lights gets its switch flipped tonight and Saturday is Christmas in the Village in a neighboring town! It’s just the start for me. Next comes Christmas parades and Thanksgiving trip to my Nanny’s and our annual trip to Santa Claus, IN. I’m sure over the next few weeks I’ll talk more and more about all the above, but for now I’ll focus more on last night.

Good night it was! Friends stopped over so I could give E her new bow and L could play with kid. Then it was dinner time. Last night I made couscous and chicken with veggies.

It didn’t turn out half bad if I say so myself. Some grilled chicken, zucchini, red, yellow, and orange peppers, a little garlic and onion (or a lot) and salt, pepper cumin and turmeric. The hubby wasn’t too sure about the couscous, he said it was a different texture but we’ll definitely have to give it another try.

And during all the cleaning and visit and cooking and bedtime, I managed a little craft time. Things from yesterday include a keychain for my sister, holiday bows and a few other little pretties.

And since I’m having a horrible time getting this entry to cooperate I’m gonna say have a lovely evening and I’ll try again tomorrow.

The Day After

Happy Wednesday!

Well it’s the day after and whether your candidates won or lost we all have something to be happy about! No more campaign ads polluting our airwaves and minds. I couldn’t take another moment of the bashfest. However, now that’s its over and it’s November, it means that it’s time to put 5 trillion toy ads on tv so my son can continuously tell me what Santa should bring him.

Last night we went to dinner and a movie. So no new super yummy recipe today unless you want to head to Olive Garden or look for their recipe on line. First stop was to see Wreck-It Ralph and then to Olive Garden. Both were great. I think Ralph is so fun and Vanellope Von Schweetz is super adorable! Great family fun movie. And the dinner wasn’t to bad either. Olive Garden has new menu items and they aren good. I had Lasagna Primavera with Grilled Chicken (their light menu) and my hubby tried the Shrimp Vesuvius. It definitely lived up to its name. I tried a bite and it is SPICY! Over all we had a great family fun night.

So after movie and and 3 glasses of wine with dinner, I was very sleepy when we got home. That means I didn’t really finish anything I had been working on. Just a keychain and stitching on a hair bow holder

20121107-125718.jpg Maybe tomorrow I’ll have finished items but so far not looking like I will. Busy morning of cleaning and grocery shopping.

Have a great afternoon!

Happy Election Day

Happy Tuesday! No I’m not going to talk about Election Day other then to say THANK GOODNESS the commercials are going to be gone and that I’m enjoying a day with the kid. Last night was a busy night, Parent/teacher meeting and PTC. Busy night equals easy dinner night. So chili it was. Super quick and easy! I called it Fall Chili. Only because the colors reminded me of the leaves outside.

20121106-135115.jpg It was yummy!

And since I just had to throw everything in the crockpot I had some time to get crafty. I decided to make bows for my friends little girls. And yes their daughter’s names all start with an E.

Also got in a few cute little clips and a silver Christmas bow

So far today I’ve made a little monster for my little monster and started on a hair bow holder. I’ll post pics of that tomorrow. Right now I’m taking a break and getting ready to take the kid out for dinner and a movie. Wreck-It Ralph and Olive Garden here we come! Hope y’all have a great day!
